By the Fireplace is a woody-gourmand unisex fragrance from Maison Margiela Replica, released in 2015 and one of the line's most popular. The composition is spare: cloves, pink pepper and orange blossom in the opening, chestnut, guaiac wood and juniper in the heart, vanilla, Peru balsam and cashmeran at the base. It is smoky-vanillic with roasted chestnut — evocative of a lit hearth. Longevity is strong.
